The UB software you download is the setup file. The setup file “ubsetup.exe” currently weighs in at just 218KB, and the Mac version which is a .dmg file currently weighs in at just over 1.4MB. Once you start the setup, it will automatically download the required files to actually install itself on your computer in the folder of your choosing. With a 2Mbit DSL connection the whole process of the UB download setup takes just over 7 minutes.
Once installed and loaded, you have to log in with your chosen username and password to see all the goods that the UB software has to offer. For starters, the lobby is very clean, provided with useful icons that indicate the all of the special features a table might have, such as a part of the bad beat jackpot (whose current stand is displayed in realtime in the lobby as well), turbo cash games, 72 action tables, 50BB min. tables, and much more. The tables themselves have very good card graphics, an available graphical hands replayer, action timer (which is displayed every time any player gets a turn to do an action), selectable skins a comprehensive stats display, quick access to hand histories ready for conversion and forum discussion and more. The only thing that does stand out for better or worse is that everyone’s name is written in all caps since the UB and Absolute Poker poker rooms merged in early 2009. If you had an account at UB in which you would enter your username in standard caps, it would now look in all caps.
